The Walnut Creek Marriott offers a comfortable and convenient stay in Walnut Creek, particularly for business travelers and those attending events. While generally well-maintained and featuring a decent gym and lounge, guests have noted occasional issues such as dated bathroom fixtures, noise concerns, and inconsistent room service availability. Recent reviews highlight exceptional staff service and a positive overall experience.
It's a very nice hotel. The gym is very well equipped and has an excellent filtration system for the water. The pool is for cooling off instead of swimming, but that's ok too. The train station is a nice and easy walk away. There's a retro bar nearby that seems to have regular live music too. I was surprised to find there's only one microwave on my floor, as opposed to one in every room. There's no laundry facility for you, so it's either use their services or go downtown. The biggest issue is that if you want to drive in you have be southbound on N. Main St, which will mean you may have to ignore your GPS, go north to the next light, and do a U-turn. It's great for people needing a place for a conference. I travel for work and didn't think this location would be quite so different from other Marriott hotels. Great place, but wrong for the needs of my trip.
Our booking was last minute but from the moment we arrived we were treated great. The staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating. Lalo who works at the restaurant was AMAZING. He always gave us the best service each time we went down to grab a bite to eat. He assisted us in choosing our meals and they were always delicious. Definitely going to come back. We visit Northern California often and will make this our base. ???
Since starting my new job I have stayed here a number of times and each time has been exceptional. The staff is always welcoming, friendly and helpful. I want to say a special thank you to Lindsay and Elbert at the front desk, Roman from the lounge and Lalo from the restaurant. The valet people are also great, though I apologize I can’t remember their names. Thank you so much to everyone, I always look forward to returning and seeing you all. Oh….and the showers have great water pressure ???
Overall, a reasonable hotel for the price. The rooms are relatively clean, with no major signs of past guests' grit or grime. One odd thing about the rooms is the lighting, specifically the color temperature of the lights. Some lights are warmer white (about 3000k) and some are cooler white (about 6000k). The really strange thing is when the different color temperatures are part of the same fixture. I'm sure many folks aren't bothered by that sort of thing, but it's something I notice. As for room service, apparently it's only a weekday thing for breakfast. I put in an order through the Bonvoy app on Sunday morning. After waiting over an hour, I decided to call and check on the status. I was then told that they didn't do breakfast room service on weekends. There was no indication of that anywhere in the room or the app. Bit of a shame, as the room service is otherwise quite nice and convenient. My recommendation to management is to update the app to reflect the actual room service order times and options, or have an explicit note or something in room with such information.
It felt right from the moment I arrived. The reception team struck a rare balance of professionalism and warmth, making the whole welcome feel smooth and sincere. The room was spotless and impressively quiet, breakfast was straightforward but thoughtfully prepared, and the peaceful setting outside made it easy to get the kind of deep sleep that actually leaves you refreshed. More than anything, what stands out is how much you get for the price. The standard of care and comfort feels noticeably higher than expected, which is exactly why this is a place I would gladly recommend and return to.
I had the absolute BEST check-in experience at the Walnut Creek Marriott thanks to Elbert! From the moment I walked up to the front desk, he went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and valued as a guest. What truly made the experience unforgettable was that he greeted me in my native language, Tongan. That meant so much to me. It’s not every day you feel seen and respected like that, especially while traveling. Elbert was professional, kind, attentive, and made the entire check-in process smooth and enjoyable. I’ve stayed at many hotels before, but I have honestly never had an experience this great. He set the tone for my entire stay in the best way possible. I truly hope management recognizes him for his outstanding customer service — he absolutely deserves a raise! Thank you, Elbert, for making my stay so special. You made a lasting impression.
What really made our stay memorable was the exceptional customer service. The valet team was efficient and friendly, and the front desk staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. Hospitality like this makes a difference. Thank you for a great experience!
Mandatory high priced valet parking, even though this is a more recent change so not buying the hotels excuse of not being pedestrian friendly. The conference area is all underground and the HVAC is terrible, either freezing or hot. Over the course of a conference the bathrooms were not tidied up and some work rooms had food and trash still from the night before. Not as kept up as it could be. Also who still charges for wifi?
Everything wonderful but I wanted to give a special shoutout to Nazia Khushall in the concierge lounge. She worked extremely hard making sure everyone was happy and she especially helped me and my grand kids. Made them feel special. We appreciate her!
WOW! I love Marriott Hotels and am a Bonvoy member, we have stayed at SO many Marriott's. I rarely write reviews but the service was so incredible that I felt compelled to share my experience. Elbert and Pierre are the BEST! Their hospitality was far better than I have witnessed at any Marriott - EVER! We were staying for a tournament and we had a lot of parents and kiddos. They were so helpful to all of us and made sure that we had every need met plus they were so nice to the kids and made them feel so welcome. I needed to stay a second night and they made sure that adding a room for another night was super painless and they adjusted the rate to help make it financially palpable. The morning staff at the breakfast buffet were so pleasant and helpful to get the kids and parents dialed before they head out for the day. These two employees should be recognized for their high level of service - they are the best!
