The Renaissance Walnut Creek Hotel receives mixed reviews, with consistent praise for its gym and location, but significant concerns regarding room quality, cleanliness, and customer service. Recent stays have highlighted issues with outdated rooms, malfunctioning amenities, and billing errors, while some guests appreciate the Bay Club access and friendly staff.
Me and my wife stayed here, and probably never again. Room was small. Walls were thin. Bed was lumpy. Pillows were flat. Bathroom towel was stained. The remote for the TV was broken. They charge for parking with no valet. Honestly I want my money back. Lady at the desk that helped us was kind, but the "lady" next to her wasn't. Thank for an uncomfortable long night
Very friendly and professional staff. The rooms are very clean and comfortable . They have a good restaurant with delicious cocktails and food. The hotel is in close proximity to restaurants.
My stay here was excellent. The staff was extremely helpful. The room was nice and clean. I enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant both mornings and the food was very good. I also really enjoyed having access to The Bay Club. I will definitely stay here again next time I come to Walnut Creek.
Multiple surprise Over billings after checkout. Accounting was rude when asked how did you charge me parking when I traveled to hotel on Bart. Her best answer I guess was to hang up. Mold in bath, walls are beaten up. Dinner service was slow, not good, and cold.
Worst beds of my life. I have not been so sore in my entire life sleeping at a hotel. These people need to stop being cheap and put some money into making their hotel worth more than staying at a shitty motel 6
The rooms are so old and sad. They need a reno BAD. The only reason I stay here is for the gym. Service is nice and staff is friendly, but I honestly hate these rooms and decor
Went in for an awards banquet recognizing pro-bono work in Contra Costa County where they honored my Grandfather for his time with the Navy in WW2. He was a part of the Port Chicago 50 regarding the explosion at Port Chicago in WW2. All 50 of the sailors were exonerated last summer and my Grandfather got his stripes back. Beautiful hotel with friendly staff and set in a lovely area.
I stay here for the gym but the hotel sucks, customer service is so bad. We’re platinum members and don’t ask for upgrades etc. we called room service for a bottle of wine(which we were going to pay for) and Tarfiq demanded that they did not deliver bottles to the rooms. ????? The room service menu had wine on the menu. Every time we stay here it’s the same crap and same brainless service,,,, need to hire more professional people
A very disappointing stay. First of all, the carpets and walls were very dirty and worn out but that was not a deal. We arrived and saw only 1 bathrobe provided for 2 people. So, we called the front desk for additional to provide us. We waited for over 30 minutes and no one came. We had to go to front desk ourseleves to request again. The drain in the bathtub could not be close off too for a bath. It was broken. So, we asked for room change and the new room bathtub drain was not working at all as well. We paid additional 27$ each for a hotel breakfast buffet but was very disappointed with the quality and variety. It was the worst hotel buffet I've ever experienced. Moreover, there was an additional unauthorized charge of 116.40 to my credit card. I would never knew if I didn't check and only after I called about billing information, they knew about this error and refunded. The fact that it would go unnoticed if I didn't check scares me. It was a very bad experience. I would not come again.
Location of course is great but that’s the only good thing going for this hotel. Rooms are extremely out dated! Everything from bedding to curtains are stained and worn out. The only attraction is the bay club. Overpriced food for very little quantity and quality. Do not stay here. Biggest mistake. Also the bartender over charged me for one drink and I know for a fact it was to pocket a percentage for themselves. The person who ordered in front of me got the same drink and was charged waaaay less. Grimey hotel and not accommodating at all. I called about the tub clogging the front desk lady said “oh we will see what we can do” and sent someone who didn’t do anything about it. Terrible
