Recent guest reviews for the Embassy Suites by Hilton Walnut Creek reveal a mixed experience, with significant concerns regarding parking, room cleanliness, and staff responsiveness. While some guests praise the breakfast and convenient location, many report issues like long check-in times, malfunctioning amenities, and a generally frustrating stay due to inconsistent service and operational problems.
Parking garage was terrible. All compact spots, $34 a night, and not enough for the guests. We had to park in a different lot and walk to the hotel. The front desk and housekeeping were great. Nice sized rooms. Breakfast was good but busy every morning. Elevators were very busy and stairs were for emergency only. The pool was constantly busy or closed.
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Check-in took 45 minutes to an hour, even if we arrived at the standard time. The front desk helped people who came in after us, they assigned us the wrong room, and then tried to blame it on us booking through a third-party. Which was not the case since we booked it directly through our Hilton Honors account and showed them the app. Eventually they moved us to a different room. The room had ants, the HVAC only worked in the front room while the back room was freezing, and the key cards kept failing - including right before checkout, even thought we had late checkout approved. I had to go to the lobby twice with a cold, wet infant from the swimming pool because the keys kept deactivating. No one answered the front desk phone when we called them from our room a few times about the ants and HVAC. No manager was available when I asked to speak to them. Oh, they indicate they have a heated pool, but it was definitely not heated and very cold. There is no valet, and they don't tell you until you check-in that self-parking is $34. Also, good luck finding parking, because there's not enough spaces for the amount of rooms they have there. Overall, frustrating stay from beginning to end. Definitely not the Embassy Suites experience I expected.
This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Starting with the parking situation- I paid ahead and had added the $34/ night for parking. Get into their parking garage and circle for 20 minutes with no open spots. I double parked and went to the front desk where I was told they would refund and I can go to the public parking. I was traveling with just myself and two children. We got all our bags up to the room they gave us, walked in and it smelled SO BAD of mildew and chlorine and I don’t know what else. My daughter took her shoes off and the carpet was wet. I called downstairs and was told by the front desk that we’d need to come back down with all of our stuff to get a new room since she was the only worker. We grabbed all our bags and got in the elevator, it smelled like someone had just put a fire out in there. I told the front desk and was advised to tell the manager the next morning because she is not responsible for cleanliness or smells. We got our new room, which was clean and smelled fine but was SO HOT. The AC did not work. I called the front desk multiple times and no answer. We decided to just stick it out. The sofa bed did not have any bedding (blanket pillows). Overall this was a complete fail and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
I received a text a little after noon stating my room is ready. Check-in was 4 PM so I headed to the hotel and arrived a little after 1 PM. I used the key from the app on my phone. It allowed me entrance to the room which had clearly not been cleaned from the last guest the night before. I go to the desk and was told that in fact the room was not ready and they’re not sure why I got that text. So I had to kill almost 3 hours before the room was finally ready. Like other reviews, the toilets are super low to the ground. There was some nasty stains on the ottoman that either need to be cleaned or the ottoman needs to be replaced. Neither of the TVs worked. Apparently they got new TVs and they don’t work. What a complete waste of my money. This was a booking for A staycation. Which means we planned on chilling in the room and binge watching some TV. They went that idea when neither of them weren’t. The guests at this hotel made it feel like a party hotel. It was so loud. Kids running up and down the halls. Supposedly it’s a quiet zone at 10 PM, but that was not enforced. All of the laughing, kids running up and down the halls, door slamming, people being super loud ended a little after 1 AM. Completely ruined my sleep. I found it funny that security approached a group of people in the lobby area and asked them to be quiet when they were not even being loud but failed to address everyone else that was. The only positive that I found was, the staff was super friendly. Otherwise, I would never stay at this location ever again. The party atmosphere, the inability to address noise makers that make it uncomfortable for other guests And lack of TV to drown out the noise of the loud guests make it a note go for me. Updated to add this after receiving my final bill I called to place a pick up order for food. Apparently they don’t do that. It’s room service only. They also don’t tell you that there is a delivery fee or the fact that no matter what tip amount you sign on the piece of paper they will charge you 22% or 20% automatically. How to call to get it adjusted as I’m not a fan of hidden fees. Overall disappointed with this stay. I don’t think I will be looking at staying at Embassy suites ever again.
The location is good. Easy to find. The room is an ok. I didn't like how the drains are clogged up. You gotta wait like 10 mins for the water to go. And the sink even worse. It smelled like sewer. When we check in we asked about time of the amenities we got here late so we wanted to know the time of breakfast they said 10 am. I said great I can sleep in a little. I was downstairs at 9am they someone stopped me and said we are closed for breakfast. So my kids and I didn't eat. I went to front desk to tell them what happened and he just looks at me and said I don't know what to tell you. There was another lady and no room for friendliness no smile nothing. It didn't feel welcomed. Just make sure you guys tell guest the correct things and when somethings wrong at least at like you care. I wasn't rude or mean I just asked and brought awareness about the room.
We loved the room and the omelette station was great! The people who worked in the evening reception were very nice and helpful. The hotel was beautiful but the service was not good at all! I had to call for two hours to get someone at the front desk to answer. I ordered towels and blankets and they didn't give me the amount I needed. We had 3 people they only brought 2 even though we told them 3. The phone in the living room didn't work and the phone in the bedroom barely worked only speaker phone and 0. I told them but they just said its a thing... We didn't know you had to tell them a day ahead if you wanted room service so we had no room service for three days. There was no water offered when we checked in and being a diamond member family that was expected. We unfortunately left a pair of shoes and when we called the hotel they kept giving us a round around about what to do about it. Everyone said something different. I'm still trying to get that sorted out after 5 days. No one answers in the housekeeping department if you need anything. We've stayed at MANY Embassy Suites and this is the worst service so far. Its a shame to bring down a beautiful hotel with terrible service.
I would give the Embassy Suites in Walnut Creek a zero if I could. My experience was horrible. My husband and I went to the Embassy Suites in Walnut Creek December 31st to bring in the new year. To our disappointment, there was only one face towel for two people! The toilet was so low I down fell on the floor, and my husband had to help me up. That toilet is perfect for two-year-old and potty training, I’m too old for that. We were just there in August Of 2025 and did not encounter these issues. The phone in our room did not work, as a matter of fact, it was noted on the phone that the phone belonged to room 316., as we were in room for 419! My husband had to go downstairs to the front desk and tell them that our room phone was not working. The front desk said someone would be up shortly, but no one ever did come.Whoever was in the room above us, had the worst kids in the world. They constantly all night long ran up and down, And stomped continuously until after 1 o’clock in the morning. My husband and I got up to go swimming and eat breakfast. After we ate, we walked over to the pool to discover that it was closed and would stay closed until 11 AM January 1 because whoever was in the pool the night before left it filthy. Disappointed again, we went upstairs to our room. As I was taking a shower, I had to hurry up because apparently the drain was clogged, and the water kept rising to the point where my husband had to wait 15 minutes to take his shower! This was the worst most horrible Stay at the Embassy suites I have ever encountered, Simply a nightmare. I want a refund! I’m going to have to find another hotel/Embassy Suites because this one has gone to the dogs. I have not received a response so far so stay far far away from the Embassy Suites in Walnut Creek!
Significant Guest Service Recovery Failure and Inconsistent Room Assignment Room Type Reserved: King Bed Suite Room Type Received: Two Double Beds Suite My recent stay at the Embassy Suites in Walnut Creek, CA, was marked by a complete failure in guest service recovery, resulting in an unresolved issue throughout my trip. Upon checking in on Sunday, I was informed my reserved King Bed Suite was unavailable due to high occupancy, and I was assigned a room with two double beds. I accepted the room to avoid further delay, noting that the room itself was visibly worn, showing heavy wear on the walls and bathroom fixtures. I requested appropriate compensation (Hilton Honors points or similar) for the inconvenience at the front desk. I was told that the hotel could not handle this and that I must contact the corporate line. I subsequently spent a significant amount of time on the phone with corporate, who was required to reach out to the hotel to discuss and confirm if they could provide Hilton Honors points. This runaround unnecessarily consumed my time and energy. While a point offer was eventually made, the value was deemed insufficient given the additional inconvenience of the requirement to contact corporate just to have them contact the hotel. The overall experience was severely affected as I was forced to spend my entire stay sleeping poorly in an unsuitable bed. No proactive attempt was made by the hotel staff to follow up or rectify the situation beyond standard check-in texts. Crucially, a colleague who checked in the following day with the exact same King reservation issue (higher member status) was immediately upgraded to a Family Suite. This inconsistency strongly suggests that superior inventory was available at the time of my check-in, but the hotel failed to provide a comparable remedy for my involuntary downgrade. The issue remains unresolved, requiring further intervention with Hilton Corporate post-stay. This experience reflects poorly on the hotel's ability to manage reservations, empower front-line staff for service recovery.
We recently stayed at this hotel for a family vacation. The rooms were generally good, though there were a few bathroom issues. The staff handled everything quickly, which made the stay easier, but the hotel could definitely improve room maintenance, mini-bar upkeep, and overall hygiene. Breakfast was great!!!! the omelet station was the highlight, and the location is convenient. Parking, however, is tough since there’s no street parking, and the hotel charges a flat $35 per night. They also offer free snacks from 5–7 pm, but we didn’t get to try them because the timing didn’t really work for us. Overall, a decent stay with room for improvement.
Convenient location close to BART, which makes getting to SFO International Airport very easy. The rooms are spacious, and the breakfast is tasty with good variety. I had a great stay and will definitely be back on my next business trip.
